Corfe Castle, built for William the Conquerors son King Henry I. Perched on a hill only a few miles from the sea in South Dorset, England. Made from Purbeck limestone, it can be seen from miles around. When looking at Castles like this it takes me back to rougher times, when people lived for the seasons, farmed from the surrounding lands and washed in cold water! I also imagine romantic times of galloping on horseback over the drawbridge and through the castle gates.
